Despite the hail being small, the damage was significant enough to secure a full roof replacement and 13 brand-new windows for the homeowners. We upgraded the roof from Shakewood to durable GAF HDZ shingles in Hickory, adding Lomanco 750s vents to provide proper ventilation and enhance the roof’s longevity.

This hail-damaged roof featured discontinued T-lock shingles, which meant a single damaged shingle qualified the homeowners for a full roof replacement through insurance. We replaced sections of decking for added stability and cut back overhanging trees to protect the new roof. Fun fact: T-lock shingles are no longer manufactured, making them a strong indicator that a roof is overdue for replacement.

This project involved bringing the home up to code, as the original plank decking had gaps that required resheeting per El Paso County regulations—an upgrade fully covered by insurance. We installed a GAF Armour Shield Class 4 roofing system, featuring impact-resistant shingles in Weatherwood. This upgrade not only ensures long-term durability but also saves the homeowner money on their insurance premiums.

This project was especially meaningful as we worked with a widowed elderly homeowner who was concerned about maintaining her home. With support from her caring neighborhood, we were hired to work on her home. We installed a full roof with GAF HDZ Charcoal Timberline shingles, along with new siding, gutters, and leaf filters.
